This exciting new event invites grandmothers and
granddaughters to explore pioneer life in the Midwest through the eyes
of a young girl in the 1870s and 1880s. Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote the
Little House books to preserve and pass on the stories of her family —
and we’ll do the same with this event! We’ll read some of the stories
and do some activities from the pioneer days including craft activities,
games, making soap — and more! We’ll also engage grandmothers and
granddaughters in sharing and recording stories from their own lives.
The Program Director for this event regularly performs a
one-person impersonation of Laura and is an expert on Laura's life and
the Pioneer days in the United States.
This event will bring the best of camp in 2008 —
swimming, campfires, games, nature and craft activities, discussion, and
sharing — together with a nostalgic look at growing up in Wisconsin in
the pioneer days.
