Summer Employment at Our Camps
The programs at both of our camps depend heavily on the staff we hire to carry out our mission. Whether at a youth camp for young children, an adventure camp for Sr Hi youth, or a family camp, our staff set the tone and nurture the culture in these special places.
While there are many similarities between our two sites and programs, there are differences which may influence which site is the best match for your skills and interests. Both sites have a full "traditional" summer program which are resourced by staff with skills in waterfront (lifeguards), nature, and arts & crafts.
Both sites have other operational staff who attend to the logistics of operating the site, primarily kitchen, maintenance, and janitorial work. These tasks are as important as any since they are very much a part of the welcome and hospitality we offer.
Most of our youth camps are scheduled at Pilgrim Center. Staff are hired who will serve as camp counselors for youth who participate in our programs. As a counselor you live in the cabin with the youth campers, provide care, comfort, guidance, and direction to the campers as they immerse themselves in camp life. The extensive youth program at Pilgrim Center requires that we hire about 30 summer staff who will fill all of these needs.
At Moon Beach we host family camps much of the summer. In fact, the program at Moon Beach is unique across the country in the fact that very few camps can sustain a schedule which includes this many great family camp programs throughout the summer!
Since families come with "built in" counselors (parents), we do not hire "traditional" camp counselors at Moon Beach. The staff provide program support and hospitality to the diverse people and ages at family camp.
